Bamburi Cement Plc has expanded its Ramadhan Food Drive, increasing support to about 4,000 vulnerable families across Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Machakos and Nairobi, reaching nearly 30,000 people during the Holy Month.
Now in its second year, the initiative has grown into a vital support programme for communities facing food challenges during Ramadhan.

Speaking during the distribution, Tawakal Rajab Sumba, Country Representative of Amsons Group, said the programme is guided by compassion and inclusivity.
“This initiative is built on compassion and inclusion. By reaching 30,000 people and expanding to areas such as Matuga, we are strengthening our partnership with communities and reaffirming our commitment to social impact,” she said.
For many Muslim faithful who fast from sunrise to sunset, the Iftar meal is an important spiritual and communal moment. However, for many low-income households, putting food on the table during this period can be difficult. The 2026 programme aims to help more families break their fast with dignity.

This year, the initiative has also extended food support to Kenya Prisons facilities, orphanages and children’s homes, where food insecurity often affects vulnerable groups.
The programme was officially launched at Afra Hall in Mombasa, marking the start of food distribution during the fasting period. Families are receiving essential food supplies to support them throughout the month.

Launched in 2025 after Bamburi Cement joined the Amsons Group, the Ramadhan Food Drive has become a key corporate social responsibility initiative, strengthening the company’s support for communities where it operates.
