Omanyala Clocks Another Sub-10 To Win KipKeino Classic Continental Tour At Nyayo

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 24 – Africa Record holder Ferdinand Omanyala clocked a back-to-back sub-10 after storming to 100m victory at the KipKeino Classic Continental Tour at Nyayo National Stadium, clocking 9.96 seconds.

In front of a deafening home crowd at the Nyayo National Stadium, Omanyala stopped the clock at a blistering 9.96 seconds, marking his second sub-10 performance in less than two weeks.

The victory was a poetic moment for the Commonwealth champion, who has now firmly reclaimed his sub-10 consistency following his 9.98s season breakthrough in Addis Ababa last Saturday.

From the moment the gun fired under the bright Nairobi floodlights, Omanyala’s drive phase was unmatched, pulling away from a world-class field that included Canada’s Aaron Brown and the USA’s Brandon Hicklin.

As the time flashed on the giant screen, the capacity stadium, filled with fans who enjoyed free entry for the historic night meet, erupted in a roar that could be heard across the city.

Omanyala, visibly emotional, took a jubilant lap of honor, high-fiving fans and draped in the Kenyan flag as he celebrated his return to the summit of continental sprinting.

While his official personal best remains the 9.77s African record set on this same soil in 2021, tonight’s 9.96s is a massive statement of intent for the 2026 season. After a challenging 2025 campaign, the Beast from the East has proven that he is not just back, he is ready to dominate the global stage once again.
