Safaricom (NSE: SCOM), through its youth platform Safaricom Hook, in partnership with Sprite, yesterday brought the Hook’d on Fresh Masterclass Series to the University of Eldoret.
The session empowered over 300 students and youth from the university and surrounding areas with skills in content creation, monetization, and digital literacy—key tools for thriving in the digital economy.
The training featured industry mentors, including musician Collo Blue and dance creator Tileh Pacbro, who shared practical insights with young creators.

“I’m excited that Safaricom and Sprite have brought this masterclass to our university. I’ve learned that platforms like Safaricom Hook are not only for entertainment but also useful for studies and research, thanks to affordable internet bundles,” said Norman Kipkurgat, a second-year student.
The Eldoret visit follows last week’s first Hook’d on Fresh Masterclass at JKUAT, organized to equip young Kenyans with digital skills and tools to navigate the digital economy.

“The Hook’d on Fresh campaign is a digital influencer-led program aimed at giving Kenyan creators the skills, tools, and inspiration to succeed in the content economy. Today, we also encouraged youth to adopt a saving culture early and explore opportunities in the tech and digital space,” said Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer, Safaricom.
The series will continue touring universities nationwide, offering students not only digital skills but also access to products like Ziidi Invest and Save to support their everyday hustle.
In addition, Safaricom and Sprite launched the Hook’d on Fresh User Generated Content (UGC) Challenge, a nationwide competition inviting youth to showcase creativity via short-form videos on TikTok and Instagram. Participants share their “fresh” take on music, sports, fashion, or comedy using hashtags #HookdonFresh and #SafaricomHook, tagging Sprite Kenya and Safaricom Hook, with a chance to win cash prizes.
