Mathira MP Eric Wambumbi has scrapped the KSh 1000 per term school fee for day schools in his constituency. The move, Wamumbi said, was arrived at after meaningful meetings with day school parents from Mathira East and Mathira West sub-counties.

"In a bid to perfect the Wamumbi Masomo Kwa Wote Programme, I am proud to announce that all day schools in Mathira will now be free of charge, scrapping the KSh 1000 term fee," said the MP.
The decision, the UDA lawmaker said, is aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and ensuring that no child is left behind due to the inability to pay fees.
"This decision is part of a broader vision to promote fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity for every learner across Mathira," he added.
Comparing his program to Kiharu’s, where MP Ndindi Nyoro slashed the amount to KSh 500, Wamumbi said his program is better as it covers the full amount.

"Day school education in Mathira is now free. Those who are charging KSh 500 (Ndindi Nyoro's Kiharu) should come and benchmark from me; I teach them how it is done. This initiative is not political; it is about the education of our children," said Wamumbi.
